Liz Lewis-Hills
Liz is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes in Pregnancy at Te Whatu Ora Waikato and specialises in Indigenous health, equity, and Māori hauora (health) and wellbeing. As a credentialed diabetes prescriber, she founded the New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes (NZSSD) Special Interest Group in Diabetes in Pregnancy and committee with the Aotearoa College of Diabetes Nurses and a Māori advisor to the NZ Society for the Study of Diabetes executive.
Liz’s contributions to the field have been recognised through the 2023 Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society Allied Health Research Award and the 2024 Diabetes NZ Research Foundation Award. Currently undertaking doctoral studies at the University of Auckland, she is conducting kaupapa Māori research in diabetes in pregnancy service delivery with a specific focus on Māori health outcomes and service equity.
