Dr Janet Alison Rowan
I was trained as a General Physician but, in 1993, during my final registrar year, I worked at National Women’s Hospital, Auckland with the Obstetric Medicine team - and never left. I became increasingly involved with the Maternity Diabetes service and from 2002 my clinical practice was predominantly in that service, which grew to 1000 deliveries a year when I retired in 2023. I was involved in clinical research, especially as the principal investigator for the MiG Trial. I have been interested in the diagnosis of GDM and role of HbA1c in early pregnancy.
