Gillian Guttenbeil is a diabetes midwife specialist, managing the midwifery diabetes team at Auckland City Hospital / Te Toka Tumai, Health New Zealand.

Gillian was instrumental in gaining midwifery council approval for diabetes midwife specialists to become the first midwifery prescribers of diabetes medication (insulin and metformin) during pregnancy in New Zealand. She has a passion for improving maternal and fetal outcomes for wahine living the reality of a diabetes in pregnancy journey and also ensuring equity of access to care.

Her special area of interest is the management of Type 1 diabetes and insulin pump therapy during pregnancy.
